Responsible Business Practices

Whittaker Workplace Solutions is committed to conduct the activities it undertakes in the delivery of office products, print procurement, office interiors and educational supplies in ways that, as far as reasonably and commercially practicable do not harm the environment. Its often the small things that matter.

• We recently introduced Hybrid vehicles for company vehicles
• We positively encourage workplace recycling
• We offer a number of collection and recycling services for our customers
• We installed light sensors that only light occupied rooms to save electricity
• We promote the cycle to work scheme
• We operate on renewable energy sources
• Where possible we reuse boxes for delivering and where this is not possible we recycle.  In 2007 we invested in a cardboard compactor to allow us to produce bales for recycling.

Employee Engagement

We empower our employees with knowledge and create passion to make a difference. Regular updates of our progress and resources help us raise awareness of sustainability in our organisation, develop knowledge and skills, encourage positive behaviour change and achieve our sustainability objectives.

Added Value to the community

We support our staff to use their skills to play an active role in the local community. Our community programme is designed to provide support for local charities and service organisations. This involves employee volunteering, sponsorship, work placements and donation of products in ways that can benefit those groups within the community that are less fortunate than us.  We support agencies in the placement and training of young people within the company (including local schools and Loughborough University) and can demonstrate a number of examples where we promote their permanent employment. We work with local good causes, selected by our employees and management and encourage fundraising and promotion. Proceeds from fundraising are donated to a number of local organisations,  including Rainbows Hospice, Brown Dog Cancer Trust and The Carpenters Arms (homeless refuge).
